Some Quick Updates

Yesterday, the Church celebrated the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the gift of Jesus’ mercy and forgiveness. Honoring the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the United States Bishops formally consecrated our nation to Jesus’ Sacred Heart, to both acknowledge our dependence on Christ’s mercy and as an appeal for healing and unity in our divided nation. Today we honor the Immaculate Heart of Mary; may our national patroness, the Mother of Mercy and the Queen of Peace, lift our nation and her people to the open heart of her Son.

Tomorrow, the Women’s Spirituality Group will gather at 10:30 in the parsonage living room to share their reflections on the Sunday gospel (Matthew 9:36-10:8). Please enter through the courtyard door.

A crew will be arriving Monday morning to place a camera in our sewer lines to actually see where they go and check their condition. They hope to hydro the drains to clear any blockages without the use of chemicals. When this is completed, some basic updates will be made to the bathrooms themselves.

The Friars’ Table is offering a festive Father’s Day Brunch from 11:00am until   2:00pm at the restaurant, 1305 Euclid Ave on Playhouse Square. Please check out the website (www.thefriarstable.org) or call 216-230-2017 for information and reservations.

Speaking of websites, parishioners Jeff Gaydos and Caleb Palagyi, members of Pete’s Peeps, our young adult group, have volunteered to tend to the editing of our parish web page, www.stpetercleveland.org.

The St. Peter’s Men’s Chorus, a volunteer group of church musicians gathered by our music minister, Jason Falkofsky, will lead the sung prayer at the 7:00pm Sunday mass on June 28. If you’ve never heard them sing, it is worth a visit to the evening mass and hear their music resound inside our church, a space truly built for liturgical music.

As you may know, Immaculate Conception (E. 40th and Superior Ave.) is no longer a parish but an oratory (place of prayer) in the Cathedral parish.  A former member of “The Mac”  joined us for the 7:00pm mass last Sunday and mentioned that she didn’t know we were here but enjoyed her experience with us. “Roaming Catholics” are with us every weekend. Please take a few seconds to offer a warm welcome to the visitors joining us for mass each week; they just might become our newest parishioners.
